Job Requirements:
The position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in construction, architecture or engineering, and 10 years of progressive experience in commercial building estimating. The position also requires experience in interacting with architects, project managers and client principals. Applicants must be hands-on, detailed, focused, highly motivated, and have proficiency in MC2 estimating software. Preparing detailed conceptual estimates from early design documents is required, as well as strong Excel© skills and general MS Office© knowledge. Outstanding interpersonal, organizational, time management and prioritization skills and verbal and written communication skills are required.
Job Responsibilites:
This position reports to the Vice President of estimating and is responsible for performing detailed estimates, constructability reviews and value engineering studies, as follows:
- Develops material take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Prepares and/or supervises detailed breakdown of components and elements of estimates for systems and subsystems.
- Reviews contractual documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and scope changes.
- Prepares and summarizes task and subtask estimates, makes updates to Chanen proprietary-rate and unit-cost database.
- Accumulates, evaluates and documents historical cost data and construction procedures and methods in order to maintain current estimating standards and databases.
- Interfaces with other departments, company senior management and client representatives to achieve objectives.
