Chanen was CM at Risk for a solid waste liquid processing facility in Phoenix, Arizona. Recource Recovery Techniques of Arizona, Inc. pretreats non-hazardous commercial and industrial liquid waste that is no longer accepted by the City of Phoenix.
The project included an unloading and treatment facility, tank farm and a laboratory/office building. Also, Chanen was responsible for coordination of the owner-furnished equipment and materials.
Incoming waste, such as that collected in grease traps or pumped from portable toilets, which does not meet municipal criteria, is processed by RRT's mechanical, chemical and biological methods. These processes create three output streams: solid waste, oil and grease and sewage within the acceptable criteria of the City's municipal sewage treatment facility.
RRTA's facility occupies a waste treatment niche-market created by increased environmental concerns and legislation.
