Chanen completed two separate projects totaling $12.6 million for the production of ophthamalic pharmaceutical products for Sola/Barnes-Hind. The first project, in which Chanen served as the construction manager, involved an 110,000-sq.-ft administrative, research and production facility including two 800-sq.-ft. Class 1000 clean rooms.
Chanen also was the CM at Risk for the second project, renovation of the entire original building. The renovation converted the facility from manufacturing contact lenses into a plant for the production of sterile contact lens solutions.
The project involved extensive structural and exterior wall modifications so that large process equipment could be installed along with the sophisticated control systems and process piping. Additionally, complex material handling packaging and bottling systems were integrated into the project.
