The new Central Plant at Midwestern University Glendale Campus consists of offices for the maintenance staff and new HVAC chillers and cooling towers. The equipment is connected by underground insulated, chilled water lines to provide cooling for campus buildings. It also provides a full maintenance shop as well as a storage area for the needs of the University for the foreseeable future.
The chiller plant was originally intended to be within the Pharmacy Education Center. It was separated in order to consolidate all climate control systems into one location and eliminate the need for individual systems in each new building. Chanen recommended the addition of this facility to accommodate the numerous new buildings being added to the campus.
