AMERICAN WEST AIRLINES
Chanen was the design-build contractor for two America West Airlines concourse interiors at Terminal 4, Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. This $53 million, 129,000 sq.-ft. project, involved tenant improvements and complex equipment integration. The two concourses have 28 gates housing the majority of America West's facilities including a sophisticated laser outbound/inbound baggage system. The system includes aircraft loading bridges, baggage handling conveyors. preconditioned air to each aircraft and flight information display systems. (FIDS).

By using the same mechanical, and electrical subcontractors as Terminal 4, Chanen expedited an early start, saving time and money. Two months work was also saved by starting installation of the main power conduits early this eliminating time-consuming removal of already constructed elements. the project was completed at the same time as the Sky Harbor International Airport Terminal 4, a $280 million project that was managed by a Chanen joint venture under a separate contract with the City of Phoenix.
